Sheaffer Pen introduced their Color Palette Product Strategy in 1996. This launch tied four existing Sheaffer product offerings into one marketing plan. The Series comprised the CREST, TARGA, FASHION and TRIUMPH all in four vibrant, trending colors. This included Fountain Pens, Roller Balls and Ball Pens, and a few Pencils in some lines. This strategy was intended to be a short term strategy and it turned out to be even shorter than planned. In the period leading up the the Bic purchase of Sheaffer a round of product rationalization occured and the Color Palette concept was quickly retired. This created some awesome products that were very short in lifecycle production. Hence, the Color Palette items are all fairly RARE in nature. Sheaffer VINTAGE Crest Series Color Palette LOT of SIX different writing instuments. These six RARE items have never been used despite being 27 years old. We are the only owners of this set – proudly produced in Fort Madison, Iowa in 1996. The pens are in perfect condition and are housed in a lightweight Sheaffer Display for embellishment and/or protection. In 1996 Sheaffer introduced CREST Series units which became known as Crest Nova Laque These stunning writing instruments were retired just a couple of years later, so the number of these in circulation is limited in nature. The finishes were #581 Flame Red, #582 Ultramarine Blue, #583 Emerald Green and #584 Cadmium Yellow. Sheaffer hand applied 23 coats of laque over a brass substructure on the cap and barrel and embellished it with a 23 karat gold band and clip. The result was stunning and will be a very sought after series in the years to come. These were last sold over 25 years ago. Very high quality for the money. They were produced in the Sheaffer Pen factory in Fort Madison, Iowa before it was closed.
